Welcome to The Sleaford Corn Exchange’s Website, this site has been developed to show you the plans and progress of the redevelopment of the Corn Exchange located opposite the Market Place in Sleaford.

The site of Sleaford’s Corn Exchange and Buttermarket has lain derelict and neglected for over a decade.

Various owners have had little interest in the property, leaving the entire structure behind the facade of 17/18 Market Place in a very dilapidated and unsafe state.

In 2010 J Hodgson and Sons Ltd, a local property restoration company, obtained planning permission and listed building consent for a scheme to restore the listed buildings and adapt them for retail, office and Leisure Use. Lengthy negotiations with the owners followed but had to be abandoned when a third part acquired the premises in settlement of a judgement debt in 2012.

Following discussions with the new owners permissions were renewed and eventually arrangements were made for the transfer of the property to a newly formed company, Sleaford Corn Exchange Ltd. In 2013. The new company will be working with the County, District and Town Councils to safeguard this important listed building and bring it back into practical use.
